Best Optical Drive

Optical Drive Help!

Laptops use special slim CD/DVD internal drives. Those optical drives are simply inserted in the respective laptop slot and fastened with screws. You often may need to remove the CD/DVD drive from your laptop in order to swap for a better drive or replace a failed one. On some laptop models, you can also install another hard drive instead of an optical drive.

1.      Turn off your laptop.

2.      Insert an edge of a paper clip into the emergency eject hole of the DVD drive to open it.

3.      Pull out the disk tray.

4.      Turn the laptop over so that the back panel faces up.

5.      Locate one or two screws on the back laptop panel that secure the CD/DVD drive. Consult a laptop manual or online technical support materials to find the exact location of the screws for your laptop model.

6.      Unscrew the screws. Hold the disk tray carefully, and pull out the CD/DVD drive.
